Devil’s Eye – عين الشيطان

On his birthday, Najib Al Rihani got from Sayid Darwish a photograph with a handwritten note on it reading “From a dead man to the dead”.
From this, we were inspired to shape an audiovisual, musical and theatrical rendition of Sayid Darwish songs – he who initiated the Arabic song following the renaissance – which he had composed in the beginning of the previous century. We’ve remodeled the songs while emphasizing on the dark demonic side of the composer of the Egyptian national anthem.

من هذه الزاوية نظرنا الى “فنان الشعب” لعرض سمعي بصري غنائي مسرحي يتناول أغنيات سيد درويش -مؤسس الاغنية العربية بعد عصر النهضة – التي لحنها للمسرح الغنائي في الربع الأول من القرن الماضي و أعدنا تشكيلها سمعيا و بصريا و مسرحياً مقتفين أثر الوجه الداكن “الشيطاني” عند ملحّن النشيد المصري الحالي
